Bret,
First of all, I’ve relied on your amortization calculator for years. Thank you.
I wouldn’t call this a bug — the calculator calls the amount of the loan Principal. That seems to be the opposite meaning. I’d call it the Loan Amount.
Possible bug — I’ve noticed recently that when I entertain the possibility of increasing my down payment on a prospective purchase, the highlighted line stays at the 104th week. It doesn’t matter how much I reduce the loan amount, the highlighted line remains the same. I believe the highlighted line used to creep upward as I increased the down payment in various scenarios I have tried.
Thank you again for your calculators.
The highlighted line will shift more according to the length of time of the loan, not the initial loan value.
I don’t understand your statement about principal being the opposite meaning. Opposite of what? I do agree that Principal may be overloaded in a loan context, though I’d want a more concrete reference for what the proper terms should be.
I calculated the amortization schedule on $200,000.00 payable in 3 annual payments at 3.00% using your calculator. The total interest was $4,013.27. When I compared it to a calculation from a bank using the US Rule on 365/365 the interest was $12,135.14. With the US Rule on 365/360 it was $12,597.28 but for some reason it was a payment period of 3 years and 15 days.
What have I done wrong? Thanks
approximately twice the amount and using the US Rule on 365/360 it was about $400.00 different.
I am using Windows and have been using the calculator for years and LOVE it; however, about two weeks ago I began not being able to print the calculator. I called in my IT person and he says it is not in my settings as I am able to print all other sites, just not this one. It also freezes up my internet active page when I try. Any thoughts as to what I could do to remedy my inability to print the document?
I haven’t changed anything on the calculator in some time. I don’t know why you are unable to print. Can you try using a different browser? (Like Firefox or Chrome if you’re using Windows?)
I am using Firefox, Windows 7 64-bit. I have used your interest calculator for years and I think it’s the best. However, I am now unable to print the amortization schedule even though the “Show Amortization Box” is checked.
Thank you. I hope there is some way that I can keep using your program and get it to print the amortization schedule.
